Gary Ozanich is Director of Northern Kentucky University's Programs in Health Informatics, and Associate Director of Research for NKU's Health Innovation Center. He has conducted extensive funded research and consulting projects on health information interoperability, care coordination, and transitions in care. This includes a position as a senior consultant to the Kentucky Office of Health Policy where we conducted population health research on the opioid crisis and approaches to integrated care. He is part of a signature research team at NKU that is completing a study on chemically dependent pregnant women and neonatal abstinence syndrome. Relative to other academic positions, Gary was Associate Director of the Institute of Tele-Information at Columbia University, and has been on the faculties of Michigan State University and University at Buffalo. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition academics, he has a private sector background which includes more than 12 years as a Vice President on Wall Street where he was a senior analyst of the technology and telecommunications industries. Gary also worked as a consultant at Booz-Allen & Hamilton. He is currently the National Co-Chair of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Interoperability and Health Information Exchange Community and was past National Chair of the HIMSS HIE Committee.
