Taking fashion cues from his father's love for beautifully tailored dress shirts, Robert Stock developed a deep appreciation for luxury style and sophisticated tailoring at a very early age. As a young man, Stock favored classic Ivy League and English Saville Row styles but he always had a fine appreciation for rich colors, textures, and prints - an influence that resonates in Robert Graham Collections today.
In the beginning of Stock's extensive career in fashion design, he met and became friends with Ralph Lauren - a fellow fashion designer in the start of his career and fellow Bronx, New York native. A creative partnership was inevitable, and together they launched Ralph Lauren's highly successful Chaps Collection.
Shortly after his departure from the American classic designer, Stock created Country Roads by Robert Stock and became an award-winning fashion designer. Over the years, Stock received the Coty Award for Best American Sportswear Designer, a prestigious Cutty Sark Award for Leading American Menswear Designer, the 1984 Woolknit Design Awards for Men's, the 2000 AMY Award from Young Menswear Association, the 36th Year American Image Award for Menswear Brand of the Year and has been honored by The Fashion Institute of Technology Alumni Star Salute award.
In 2000, Mr. Stock felt uninspired by the garments that made up the men's wear industry. He noticed there was a void in the market and quickly began developing a line that spoke to a niche in luxury men's wear that called for pops of color and interesting, conversation-provoking statement pieces. In 2001, Stock launched Robert Graham - a line consisting of men's sport shirts with a look he coined as "American eclectic." That year, luxury specialty stores Fred Segal and Neiman Marcus were Robert Graham's first customers.
Today, Robert Graham's wearable art can be found in the brand's freestanding stores across the U.S., as well as over 1,200 premium retail locations globally. Mr. Stock is positioned at the helm of this rapidly growing, American fashion house as its Founder and often makes personal appearances. He is married, has two children and resides in Connecticut.
