Tim Schigel

Managing Partner - Refinery Ventures

Tim has a unique blend of experiences as a successful entrepreneur, venture capital investor, and institutional investor. Tim is the founder and Chairman of ShareThis, an Internet media company that powers sharing across millions of websites and reaches 600 million people monthly. The company was founded in Cincinnati, and is now headquartered in Palo Alto, CA with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and London. ShareThis was recognized by Forbes and others as one of the fastest growing, and 'Most Promising Companies' in America in 2013.

Most recently, Tim was a founding member of a public/private partnership in Cincinnati called Cintrifuse. The mission was to grow the venture-backed startup ecosystem in the region. Tim was recruited by Procter & Gamble executives, to raise and manage a fund of funds with investments from most of the leading corporations in the region. Cintrifuse has been a national model of success, connecting startups, venture investors and major corporations to drive innovation. Through Tim's leadership, Cintrifuse invested in 14 venture firms around the country and internationally. As a result, startups raised over $140 million during his tenure including Everything But The House (Greycroft and Spark), LISNR (Mercury, Jump and Intel), Enable Injections (ORI) and ConnXus (TechStars). In addition, Tim served on the board of DotLoop, which was acquired for over $100 million by Zillow in 2015.

Tim learned the venture investing business with Blue Chip Venture Company starting in 1998, and quickly advanced from principal to partner with $600 million under management. Notable exits included Advertising.com (sold to AOL), Get2Chip (sold to Cadence), BlueGill (sold to CheckFree), and USInternetworking (IPO).

He grew up in Cleveland, has been married for 27 years and has three children. Tim received his BSEE from Case Western Reserve University.
